As you know, the CEA-Ohio Annual Conference provides a great opportunity for networking and professional development. Many of you participate by being workshop presenters, conference helpers, and organizers. We have a great executive board and planning committee that spends many hours planning each year’s conference.
The current health situation has far-reaching impacts. Our conference venue is currently closed, with no real projection of a re-opening date. The state of Ohio has placed limitations on employee travel, and budget cuts are occurring daily. Many vendors and potential speakers are in the same position with travel restrictions and unknown dates to resume normal activity.
After much discussion with the Executive Board, it is with great sadness that I announce CEA-Ohio has decided to cancel the annual conference for 2020. I know this event is looked forward to by many, but it is far more important to protect the health and safety of our members than it is to plan a conference that may or may not be able to happen.
We will still accept applications for, and award, the Beverly Jo Taylor and David Mielke Awards. Nomination forms are available on the website. Anyone who has already been nominated and completed the form for Teacher of the Year will be given the opportunity to move their application to the 2021 Teacher of the Year process.
I want to thank each one of you for your continued support of CEA-O. Without your support and participation, our CEA chapter would not be as successful as it is today. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at email@example.com. Please continue to stay healthy and safe, and take good care of yourselves.
Janet Carter, CEA-Ohio President
